How You Can Help

The Stuyvesant Cove Park Association, Inc. is a support organization helping to raise funds and recruit volunteers needed to maintain the Stuyvesant Cove Park and to sponsor programs in the park.

To accomplish this task, funds are needed to provide maintenance and security of the park and support on-going programs in Solar One, the classroom for environmental studies.

The Community Environmental Center, Inc. is actively reaching out to foundations, corporations, and federal, state, and city sources of funding, but they are also asking us to assist them as community partners.

Your contribution, which is tax deductable, will help us to support the park and appraise you of all upcoming special events via a periodic newsletter.

Park Angels
Park Angels volunteer on a regular time schedule each month to oversee a particular planting bed and habitat. They keep their area clear of litter using materials supplied by the Community Environmental Center. They report graffiti, damage to the plants, park furniture, etc. for speedy correction. As our program develops, other opportunities will be available.
Docents
Docents provide information to park users about the programs, future activities, and opportunities for volunteering. When the park opens, there will be a temporary classroom where docents will provide maps for self-guided tours, membership forms to the Stuyvesant Cove Park Association, Inc., and information about donor giving. Again, as our program develops, docent duties will expand.
Community Outreach
Community Outreach volunteers seek members to join the Stuyvesant Cove Park Association, Inc. by serving as building captains in their apartment complex. Captains inform their neighbors by slipping membership information under doors and talking to neighbors. Volunteers can help with mailings to potential members and also help to get out periodic newsletters and special events announcements to SCPA members.
Fundraising
Working with the Board of the Stuyvesant Cove Park Association, volunteers are needed to help plan and carry out fund raising in a variety of ways. People with grant writing experience are especially welcome as are those who have helped to produce special events like benefits boat trips, recognition dinners, or participated in other types of fund raising.
