From Amy Hanan:
"Enclosed is my membership renewal. In addition, I am sending you
a modest additional contribution. The Cove is truly a treasure--enjoyed
by so many of us. Thank you for all your efforts on the community's
behalf."
Excerpts from Adele Phyllis Unterberg's letter:
"... We have glorious Stuyvesant Cove- our stretch of heaven along
the river from 18th-23rd Street. Everyone is smiling and happy to sit
and look out upon the magnificent water, the expanses of bridges, the
skyline, and the boats, Long Island City and beyond. The sweet smelling
grasses and flowers enhance the area and bring joy to the soul. The
birds, both of land and sea are in abundance as are the butterflies
and bees. What a gorgeous setting to walk all the way from South Street
up to Stuyvesant Cove and from Stuyvesant Cove northward.
To the people who envisioned this bucolic wonderment--bravo to you
as you have provided an incredible escape for all. The weekend programs,
the outreach, the sense of communal unity is wonderful and greatly needed,
and best of all, you have brought the river area back to life."
Note from Karen Morse:
"Thank you for this beautiful park. It's truly an oasis away from
the construction of Stuyvesant Town, where birds nest, of yellow flowers
that border the river and city -- a miracle has been born."
